2 LA County deputies in stable condition after being shot in Compton
The two Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies who were shot in the head in an ambush in Compton Saturday are now in stable condition, authorities confirmed Sunday.
A senior official within the department tells ABC News that one of the deputies, only identified as a 31-year-old mother of a 6-year-old boy, was shot in the jaw and arms but is critical but stable condition.
"She helped the other wounded deputy, got on the radio, provided medical care, got him to a place of safety 'cause they didn't know if there was another attack coming their way," Sheriff Alex Villanueva said.

Amazon hiring 100,000 workers in U.S. and Canada to meet surge in lockdown shopping
Amazon stepped up its hiring spree on Monday, saying it would recruit 100,000 more workers to meet the growing demand for online shopping, which has spiked during the pandemic.
The world’s biggest online retailer, which is run by Jeff Bezos, said the new positions are for full and part-time work across the U.S. and Canada, and include roles at 100 package sorting centers and other facilities it is opening in September.
The other deputy, a 24-year-old man, was struck by gunfire in the forehead, an arm and a hand. He is described as alert. Neither of their names have been released to the public. Both deputies were sworn in 14 months ago.
